Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus after his crucifixion. Christians believe Jesus was crucified on Good Friday and three days later he rose again. These three days are called Easter Triduum.
Easter falls on the first full moon after the March or Spring March Equinox and is celebrated on a Sunday to represent the day of Christ’s resurrection. Hence, Easter dates are not fixed and change according to lunar calendar.
Easter season starts with Ash Wednesday which is the first day of Lent. Lent is a solemn religious observance in liturgical calendar of many christian denominations which covers a period of 40 days before Easter Sunday. Christians fast, give up a particular food or vice during Lent. This memorialize the period when Jesus went into the wilderness and fasted for 40 days. The Holy week or the Easter week has Maundy Thursday when Jesus had Last Supper with his 12 disciples.
