Dust Storm in Noida

Yesterday’s strong gusts of wind spawned a little dust storm in Noida for nearly an hour which enveloped the city of Noida and Greater Noida and other parts of National Capital Region (NCR).  Wind speed was quite high at 40-50 kmph for 15-20 minutes and caused a tree branch to fall on a car in Greater Noida. Thankfully no major damage was reported. However, squally winds gave a little respite from the rising temperatures in the evening. But skymet predicts hot days will continue in the days to come. Well, it’s April after all!

Noida Diary: Dust Storm in Noida

So far summer temperatures have been comfortable in the region compared to East and Central India which is reeling under heat wave, especially parts of Maharashtra, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

The first week of May is expected to begin on a rainy note here in Noida and NCR predicts skymet. Hoping some showers come our way soon!

  1. Aren't squalls normal in the NCR? With so much politics how can the region escape them? 🙂

By the way, I have answered your comment to Jyotirmoy in my blog post. Hope you will like my answer or at least not be intimidated by me. 🙂

  2. True…'Aandhi' did bring down the temperature..and it would be frequent in days to come, I guess. My whole place was dust-laden though. Rains are eluding..there's is still some time for it 🙂

  3. Yep…there's always a storm in teacup brewed by media or in the parliament courtesy our Netajis 🙂 Squalls are a norm in summers here.
