Saurav Ghosal, Joshna Chinappa Win Men’s and Women’s Title
The India’s number one palyers and hot favorites Saurav Ghosal and Joshna Chinnapa emerged as winners in the men’s and women’s categories at the recently concluded HCL 74th National Squash Championship, here on Saturday. In a closely contested final match, top seeded Saurav Ghosal of Tamil Nadu defeated Mahesh Mangaonkar of Maharashtra 11-8, 11-13, 11-9, 11-16 in the final. In women’s final Joshna Chinappa defeated Lakshya Ragavendran 1-1 (11-6, 0-1) with total 11 points won by the champ.
HCL 74th National Squash C’ship Winners in Other Categories
Parmeet Singh won the Pro Coach category with a thumping victory over Partibhan Ayyapan. The final score read: 3-0 (11-7, 11-3, 11-5). The other six category winners are Amitpal Kohli (MO35), Saurabh Nayar (MO40), Ashutosh Padnekar (MO45), Lalit Advani (MO50), Jaideep Grewal (MO55) and Jaylal Shreshtha (MO60).
Award Ceremony
The winners were felicitated by Roshni Nadar Malhotra, CEO and Executive Director, HCL Corporation and Shikhar Malhotra, Director & Board Member, HCL Corporation. The prize distribution ceremony of this seven star tourney which is considered as the highest rated tournament was held at 3pm on August 26. The winners in men’s and women’s category received a prize money of 1.5 lakh each while the Pro Coach category winner got 50 thousand and rest of the winners received 15 thousand each.
