Noida woke up to cold and wet morning today with its first winter rainfall of the season bringing chill in the air. It started pitter pattering in the late evening gone day that continued all through the night. The skies were mostly covered in clouds the whole day. It is same even today with misty morning accompanied with shallow fog. Mostly, sun is playing peek-a-boo since morning. The persistent cloud cover indicating a possibility of more rains in the coming days as well.
Rains were witnessed in the capital and other parts of NCR as well. Skymet Weather Services pin this weather phenomenon on the active Western Disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and its induced cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana. Their website quotes the western disturbance has resulted in rain and snow over the hilly states of North India while the latter one has been lashing northwestern plains with rains.
The best part of having rains in this part of country is it will wash out the pollutants which had caused a persistent smog over entire Delhi NCR region. The air quality, hopefully, will improve in coming days.
Mercury has certainly dipped few notches with the light spell of rain. However, past few days had been on the warmer side with bright sun up in Noida skies. But, that is passe. Noida people brace yourself for chilly mornings and cold nights as the North of India gets icy cold northwesterly winds from snow-clad Himalayas. It’s precisely that time of the year when you pull out all your heavy woolens – the muffs and the gloves et al. The winter is here!
