‘Sitare Zameen Par’—an exhibition at Kiran Nadar Museum of Arts in Noida presents vintage photograph portraits by J.H. Thakker of Bollywood stars from Golden Era.
It’s a golden opportunity for cinephiles and photography enthusiasts of Noida and Delhi NCR to witness the alluring charm of sepia-toned era captured by master photographer Jethalal H. Thakker, founder of India Photo Studio.
J H Thakker – Master of Chiaroscuro
Thakker (1923 – 2003) was one of the first Bollywood photographers to employ chiaroscuro—a technique that plays with light and shadow to create a dramatic effect. He is well-known for his moody portraits of film actors of 1950s and 1960s Hindi cinema. He has created some of the iconic portraits of Bollywood legends Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, Nargis, Meena Kumari, Nutan, Ashok Kumar and Pran. Thakker’s silver gelatin prints is a rich legacy of studio photography tradition in India.
KNMA Noida Exhibition Open to Public
The exhibition opened to public on February 07 at KNMA Noida. A preview of collection was organized for a select gathering on February 06 followed by a cocktail party. Plan your visit to KNMA Noida to view a striking collection of portrait photographs of Bombay cinestars captured by JH Thakker.
