Armed Forces veterans in Gautam Buddh Nagar on Wednesday, December 21 will observe Vijay Diwas at the Shaheed Smarak Noida in Sector 29.

Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sandeep Singh will be the chief guest at the event to pay homage to the brave 39 soldiers of Gautam Buddh Nagar, who were martyred in different wars. Lt General Dhiraj Seth, GOC Delhi Area and Rear Admiral Nirbhay Bapna, ACNS will also grace the occasion.

Vijay Diwas is celebrated to honor the victory of Indian armed forces over Pakistan in the 1971 war. Wreath laying ceremony will be carried out with tri-service guards and buglers in attendance to pay tributes to the martyrs.

Lt Gen GL Bakshi, chairman, Noida Shaheed Smarak Sanstha will deliver the welcome address followed by an address by Vice Chief of Air Staff.

 Lt Gen S K Singh, executive director of Sanstha, the next of kin of martyrs, civil dignitaries, bureaucrats and school students and common citizenry too will be present at the celebrations.

Singing of patriotic songs and cultural program by school students of APSN and Cambridge school is also lined up. Later, wife of the Vice Chief of Air Staff will interact and distribute gifts to the next of kin of the martyrs.

The ceremony will be concluded with signing off of visitor’s book.

Vijay Diwas Wall

Vijay Diwas Wall’ was unveiled by Noida veterans to pay homage to martyrs of 1971 Indo-Pak War on December 16 in the presence of Noida DCP and Additional DCP.

The residents of Noida Sector 28, 29 and 37, comprising mostly ex-servicemen, have created a Vijay Diwas Wall, opposite the Brahmaputra Market in Sector 28 to commemorate martyrs of Indo-Pakistan War of 1971.

The Victory Wall was unveiled by Lt Gen GL Bakshi, Param Vishisht Seva Medal recipient, and Col AK Tara, Vir Chakra recipient, both of whom reside in Arun Vihar and fought in the war.

Earlier this year, the residents had also inaugurated Kargil Wall on July 26 to commemorate the Indo-Pakistan War of 1999.
