Saras Aajeevika Mela 2023 at Noida Haat

Saras Aajeevika Mela is back for it’s 3rd edition from February 17 to March 5 at Noida Haat in Sector 33A.

Saras Aajeevika Mela 2023 is an exhibition of hand crafted rural products and traditional arts by Self Help Groups run by women. The fair is organized by Ministry of Rural Development and National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR).

Saras Aajeevika Mela – Experience all the states of India at one place

More than 300 craftswomen associated with self-help groups (SHGs) from 27 states will showcase their products. Saras Aajeevika Mela offers you a great choice to shop authentic Indian handicrafts from across the country. It gives you a wide variety of options for home decoration, clothing, daily utility, accessories among other things from over 180 stalls set up at the fair venue.

Raghavendra Pratap Singh, director, ministry of rural development at the press conference held at Noida Haat said,

“The fair will have stalls that will showcase water hyacinth handbags from Assam, pearl jewellery from Andhra Pradesh, lac bangles from Bihar, Madhubani paintings, Sikki crafts from Bihar and many more”

Experience the stories of the craftswomen and their work

Each stall, each product and each of the rural SHG woman has a story to share. The Saras Mela is a platform that gives you a peek into the life of the craftswomen and their work.

Charanjit Singh, joint secretary, ministry of rural development at a press conference in Noida said,

“Over 300 women artisans from 27 states will present their creative works at the fair. With the help of these Saras Melas, women SHGs are not only creating livelihood opportunities, but are also presenting a great example of women empowerment in front of the country. To maintain transparency, arrangements have been made for online registration/nomination of SHGs at the Saras Aajeevika Mela”

Saras Aajeevika Mela is an initiative by the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) by the Government of India. It is a part of the effort of the Ministry to provide direct and fair linkage to the skilled rural women group of DAY- NRLM to opportune market, making them avail even handed exchange for their skill and hard work. It is a perfect place for rural women artisans to showcase their skills, sell their products and help them build links with bulk buyers.

Saras Mela Attractions beyond Handicrafts

The 17-day fair will also host cultural programs every day. More than 85 programs of traditional regional folk dance and music are lined up for visitors’ entertainment. India Food Court at the Noida Haat will serve authentic regional cuisines from 20 states of our country.
