Dr Ajay Pal Sharma takes charge as SSP Gautam Buddh Nagar

The latest reshuffle by UP government has brought the encounter specialist Dr Ajay Pal Sharma to our city. This firebrand IPS officer took charge as Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Buddh Nagar at Surajpur SSP Office on March 19, 2018. The outgoing DIG Love Kumar is posted as DIG Prison administration.

Blazing Track record

A remarkable 7 year track-record with more than 30 encounters to his credit has earned him the moniker of ‘Encounter Man’. IPS Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma was SP Shamli prior to his transfer where he was instrumental in eliminating the notorious Mukim Kala Gang of Western UP. He has put behind bars UP’s most wanted criminals Furkan and Vipul Khooni with 50 thousand reward on their head. Another criminal Naushad aka Danny was taken out in an encounter during his stint in Shamli.

IPS officer Dr Ajay Pal Sharma is also known to be an expert in handling kidnapping cases. During his tenure as SP Ghaziabad City he solved three kidnapping cases. He busted the betting mafia run by Chaturbhuj Gupta aka Chatura while he was SP Hathras. Right after his training as IPS officer in Saharanpur he was posted to Mathura. He was SP City Ghaziabad in 2016. He has served as SP Shamli district prior to his Noida posting.

Early Life

Dr Ajay Pal Sharma was born on October 26, 1985 in Ludhiana, Punjab. He pursued ~~MBBS~~ BDS (Dental Sciences) degree from Govt Medical College, Patiala and later became an IPS officer from UP cadre in 2011. He is eldest of the two sons of Mr Amarjeet Sharma and Mrs Prem Sharma. His father retired as a Punjab government school teacher. His younger brother Amit Sharma is an MBBS doctor and 2015 batch IPS and 2016 batch IAS officer. He married Aditi Sharma in 2016.

What Lies Ahead

Appointment of Dr Ajay Pal Sharma as SSP Noida is seen as a move to crackdown organized crime in Noida. People, particularly businessmen and investors, had voiced their concern over growing crime in the region during ‘Investors’ Meet’ in Lucknow last month. The growing terror of Sunder Bhati and Anil Dujana gang among business community has vitiated the business and investment clime. SSP Ajay Pal Sharma has a reputation of decimating gangs and putting behind bars some of the most notorious criminals in his encounters.

Snatchings and thefts are quite rampant in Noida. The change of captain will change that, hopefully. SSP Dr Ajay Pal Sharma’s is known for his diligent duty, surprise inspections and encounters. We expect increased policing to nab criminals particularly in the crowded markets and malls.

Controversial Transfer: The transfer order came right after a report by former Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Vaibhav Krishna named Dr Ajay Pal and five other IPS officers —Himanshu Kumar, Rampal Sharma, Ganesh Prasad Saha, Sudhur Singh and Rajeev Narain Singh — as accused in a cash-for-postings investigation.
