Drones Made in Noida Deployed for Rescue Operations in Wayanad

Drones manufactured in Noida were deployed for relief and rescue operations in Kerala’s Wayanad district, following two landslides on July 30 that resulted in over 300 deaths and many missing.

QuickPay Pvt Ltd, based in Noida’s Sector 2, dispatched four DIBODS drones from the Hindon IAF base in a C130 Hercules to Calicut.

The drones called DIBODS, short form for Drone-based Intelligent Buried Object Detection System are equipped with advanced subsoil scanner technology. These drones are instrumental in locating survivors and buried objects like weapons, mines, tunnels, bodies, and foreign materials under challenging conditions.

DIBODS drones can detect heat signatures up to 30 meters deep in soil and water while hovering at 1.5m above the ground.

The Wayanad Rescue Operation

The company has sent a five-member team to the southern state on the request of Kerala government. It is looking at a 6 sq km area up to a waterfall point which has witnessed widespread devastation — uprooted trees, sludge and debris strewn all over.

The drone company’s founder, Rajib Roy, told a leading national daily, “We have set up a base near Chaliyar and based on the inputs provided by the local authorities and disaster management teams, areas along the river were scanned on Saturday morning”….”With basic mapping done, we will move into the inaccessible areas on Sunday. If our drones detect any signal, it will be monitored by the command system, and the exact coordinates will be shared with the agencies to carry out excavation,” Roy added.

Drone operations near the Chaliyar river in Malappuram were carried out to recover bodies washed downstream by swollen Iruvanjipuzha river.

Around 1,374 rescue personnel are carrying out search operations in the landslide-hit areas currently.

Quick Pay, a green-tech start-up was founded by Rajib Roy in 2016. Operating its base from Noida in Uttar Pradesh their drones primarily cater to the country’s defence sector. The company is GOI approved Defence Industrial Licence holder for UAV and MSME; and GEM approved and registered under DIPP Govt. of India.
