Noida will soon get its ‘Shilp Haat and Bunkar Bhawan’ – a hub for weavers and artisans to exhibit and sell their handicraft in Sector 33 A of the city. Built on lines of the ‘Dilli Haat’ in the national capital, the project is spread over an area of 10 acre being developed at a cost of Rs 80 crore according to a PTI report.
Shilp Haat And Bunkar Bhawan Noida Complex
The Shilp Haat And Bunkar Bhawan is a three-storeyed structure on a 10 acre land which will house 146 shops and stalls, a food court comprising of 10 shops, an amphitheater with audience capacity of 450, an emporium, culture center, a museum, office space for artisans and other public utilities. The basement of the Bunkar Bhawan will be used as a place for manufacturing their products by artisans which would then be displayed in the showrooms above.
Only 10 per cent of the land will be covered while 50 percent of the open space will have landscaping. The Shilp Haat will have ample green landscaping with a variety of plants, climbers, ornamental plants and shrubs. The Shilp Haat has an underground as well as surface parking in the complex to accommodate 964 cars, 450 cars in covered while rest in surface park.
Shilp Haat And Bunkar Bhawan Noida – Start to Finish
The project was launched on November 27, 2015 with an initial estimated cost of Rs 34.40 crore per the official documents. The then UP Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had laid the foundation stone for the project in April 2015. It was slated for completion by November 25, 2016. The project will now cost Rs 80 crore inclusive of civil, electrical and horticulture work. Noida authority has completed the civil work on the complex and the electrical work is underway. It is committed to handover the project by October this year ready for the pre-diwali handicraft festival and consumer trade fair – Shipotsav.
Shipotsav 2018 at Shilp Haat Noida
Shipotsav is tentatively scheduled to take place from October 26 to November 02 at Shilp Haat And Bunkar Bhawan Noida. Every year Noida hosts this handicraft and consumer trade fair at the Ramleela grounds in the Noida stadium just before diwali.
‘Hunar Hub’ in Noida
Once the Ship Haat becomes functional, it will serve as a regular venue for Shilp utsav and other events besides being a one stop hub for artisans from across the country to display and sell their products directly to the buyer eliminating middlemen. This complex is part of government’s plan to develop Noida as a ‘Hunar hub’ – a prototype model to be replicated in the the states which would encourage their local arts and crafts.
