Noida Celebrates Fourth International Yoga Day with fervor.

Noida city geared up to roll out yoga mats to mark the fourth International Day of Yoga (IDY). Keeping the tradition, various Yoga training programs, camps, seminars, workshops were organised across the Noida city. The fourth International Yoga Day was celebrated in various Noida and Greater Noida sectors where hundreds turned up to practice yoga. A large number of yoga enthusiasts in and around the city celebrated the International Yoga Day at various parks, grounds and stadiums across the city.
International Yoga Day at Noida Stadium
Noida Stadium was packed with colorful Yoga mats. Noida people performed ‘asanas’ and meditation to celebrate the spirit of the day.
The Noida Stadium has been one of the venues since the first International Day of Yoga celebrated in 2015. Thursday morning saw over a thousand residents from Noida and around in attendance for the fourth International Yoga day celebrations. Yoga guru Rajesh Panwar at Aarogyam Natural Health Centre (ANHC) helped participants zen out to a blissful state. This grand yoga session was organised jointly by the Gautam Budh Nagar District Administration and the Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA).
The notable attendees were Union Finance, Rail and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal, Noida MLA Pankaj Singh, NEA President Vipin Malhan and FONRWA president N P Singh. Mr Piyush Goyal later joined Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh and others for a similar yoga session at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik stadium in Greater Noida.
International Yoga Day at Noida Schools, Colleges and Educational Institutes
International Yoga Day celebrated at Savitribai Phule Balika Inter College. principal of the school Ms Rima Dey and all the staff members along with student performed yoga on this occasion. Mahamaya Balika Inter college, Sector 44 had Mr Satender Jain as the chief guest. Sarla Chopra School, Sector 56 conducted ‘Yog Bhagaye Rog’ program. School principal I P Bhatia led the celebrations with students and parents in attendance. IGNOU regional center celebrated the occasion under the guidance of yoga guru Deepak Singh with the regional director Dr Gulab Jha highlighting the benefits of yoga on the occasion.
DPS and Vishwa bharati public school in sector 30 saw the participation of teachers, students and the support staff in the celebrations. Amity University and IMS Noida organized Yoga workshops and some enlightening talks. GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research in Greater Noida organized a yoga session at its campus. This initiative was taken under the astute guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR in harmony of the National Initiative. The session was taken up by Mr. S. Ravi Chandran, renowned yoga expert. He shared the importance & relevance of Yoga Sadhna & Yog Mudras and demonstrated various yoga Aasana’s to the Students, Faculty and Staff members of GLBIMR.
Government Offices Organized Yoga Shivir
Public sector enterprise NTPC organised a yoga shivir in Dadri under instructor Chaman Singh while members of Noida police held a yoga camp in Surajpur police lines. Similar sessions were also organised for officials and inmates in Luksar jail.
YogaUtsav at garden’s Galleria Mall
Gardens Galleria mall together with Decathlon India organized YogaUtsav to kick-start a healthy lifestyle on the occasion of 4th International Yoga Day. The trending fitness mantra – Hum Fit Toh India Fit – was the spirit of the program that started from 6 am onward. Yog gurus from Art of Living mission guided people with the different postures of yoga.
International Yoga Day Celebration at The Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort in Greater Noida organized a special session with the objective to spread the good habit of healthy living amongst the attendees. Celebrating the holistic well being and wellness of the mind, body, and soul, the morning activities started with a healthy detoxifying drink and then the yoga session with Dr. Pankaj Chansarkar – Spa & Wellness Manager, Resident Ayurveda Consultant. The latter part of the day witnessed a vegan lunch at the restaurant eggspectation involving discussions about good health, spiritual journey and waking oneself up from the slumber of a sedentary life.
Residents Protest In Noida On International Yoga Day
Residents of sector 123 performed Yoga wearing breathing masks near the controversial landfill site. They performed kooda aasan, kachra aasan, badbu aasan and sadan aasan.
This unique protest was staged by Noida residents to highlight their concerns of environmental and health issues due to a dumping ground hardly 170 meters away from their society. The protests against the dumping site in Noida sector 123 started since the beginning of June. The sector has a population of around five lakh. This masked protest by Noida residents aims to attract Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s attention towards their ordeal.
The First International Day of Yoga
The first International Day of Yoga was observed all over the world on June 21, 2015. The yoga event on New Delhi’s Rajpath made it to the Guinness World Records with 35,985 participants led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi performing asanas at one venue and 84 nationalities being part of it.
The idea of International Day of Yoga was first proposed by Prime Minister Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on 27 September 2014.
“Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature,” said the Prime Minister.
He had then proposed June 21 to be observed as International Yoga Day all over the world, as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world. The United Nations General Assembly in December 2014 had declared that June 21 would be observed as International Day of Yoga every year.
4th International Yoga Day led by Prime Minister
The 4th International Yoga Day kicked off to a grand start with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the celebrations in Dehradun. Along with the Prime Minister, nearly 50,000 yoga enthusiasts participated in the India’s International Yoga Day celebrations being held at Dehradun-based Forest Research Institute.
The AYUSH Ministry has launched mobile app ‘Yoga Locator’ to help people find a yoga session. The Women and Child Development Ministry is promoted “#YogaFor9to5”, a contest to generate awareness on the benefits of yoga for women at workplace.
