In a surprise shift, senior UP-cadre IAS officer Surendra Singh, posted as CEO of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority and Meerut divisional commissioner has been sent on Central deputation for three years.
2005 batch IAS officer Surendra Kumar Singh of Uttar Pradesh cadre has been given inter cadre deputation from Uttar Pradesh to AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories) cadre for the period of three years in relaxation of policy, from the date of assumption of charge in the cadre
The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal for Inter Cadre Deputation of Surendra Singh (IAS-2005) of Uttar Pradesh cadre to AGMUT cadre for a period of three years on September 23, 2022.
A proposal in this regard was made by the Department of Personnel and Training and the approval has been accorded in relaxation of the policy.
Though Singh has been asked to join the new assignment at the Centre, the Uttar Pradesh government is yet to announce the new GNIDA CEO.
Singh, a 2005-batch IAS officer was posted as commissioner in the Meerut division for the past year and a half. He was given the additional charge of Greater Noida CEO in May this year.
Originally from Mathura, Singh started his career from Meerut, where he was posted as a trainee IAS officer. Subsequently, he served as joint magistrate in Ayodhya and the chief development officer of Agra. He also served as the district magistrate in several areas, including Firozabad and Muzaffarnagar, Varanasi and Kanpur.
The IAS officer served as special secretary to chief minister Yogi Adityanath between 2019 and 2021. Simultaneously, he also served in the civil aviation department and was then appointed as the divisional commissioner of Meerut.
During his short five-month tenure, Singh (44) focused on removing encroachments and restarting the Gangajal project that was stalled because of farmers’ protests for over seven months. He also took initiatives for better planning of the township and checking corruption in the department.
